Don Freedman spoke on “Planning for Young People with Disabilities Transitioning to Adulthood” at the annual meeting of the Essex County Estate Planning Council on March 26, 2013, in Peabody, Massachusetts. Specific topics included capacity for decision-making and consideration of guardianship or alternatives; capacity for work and consideration of applying for Supplemental Security Income, MassHealth/Medicaid, work-support and other benefit programs; and dealing with the shift from the supports provided by the public education system to supports provided by adult services programs.
